This is a Sweet, Gentle, Goofy boy who almost lost his life as a result of being picked up as a stray and taken to Philadelphia ACCT. This particular shelter is an open intake shelter in the city and will oftentimes find themselves over capacity with no other choice but to euthanize dogs to get their numbers where they need to be. Mr. Peabody, at just a year old, found himself in this very circumstance. We were onsite pulling other dogs and I saw his pitiful face just laying in the cage waiting for his number to come up. I immediately tagged him for our rescue, took him out of his cage and away we went! He weighs 17 lbs and is just as happy as can be. This Beautiful girl was sitting along with her litter mates outside of a Tractor Supply in Mississippi last winter. I traveled to see my soldier and we stopped to pick up a few things and there they were, a guy selling all of them. I couldn't walk away as I knew Mom was being used as an income source. I approached the guy and told him I would be happy to purchase ALL of his puppies, BUT I get Momma too. He wasn't onboard at first but as they say "money talks" and I flashed my travel money at him and the next thing I knew I was driving back with Mom and her 4 pups! Whiskey was adopted by a couple in Maryland but they did not have the time for her after their schedules changed and it is our policy that all of our dogs have a home for life - either with their adopter or with us. When they contacted me, we took her back immediately. She is a Sweet, Sweet girl. She is a Shepherd / Doodle mix and weighs 78 lbs. Whiskey has a rare medical condition known as "Lions Jaw". It is nothing more than an abnormal bone growth under her chin, but it still makes her hard to adopt. Little Hank was taken right off the streets of Kensington and what's even worse right out of the hands of a suspected dog fighter! If you know the Philadelphia area, you know that Kensington is a very high drug area. Addicts will do anything to feed their habit which includes selling dogs they come across to fighters. This pup has a lucky streak as we frequent the area looking for street dogs that need help. We find this little guy being handed over to known suspected dog fighters. Thankfully, we were able to intervene and get this cute boy to safety. Our vet thinks he is just about a year old and he is a spunky little devil! He loves to play and you will get a kick out of his antics! He weighs 10 lbs and is most likely a Jack Russel Mix. Daisy is a Golden Doodle was purchased from a breeder and went to a loving family. Unfortunately the family fell on hard times and Ms. Daisy was turned into rescue instead of going to the shelter. She was born Sept 3, 2023. She is an absolute gem of a dog. She is calm and quiet which makes her ideal for this task. She loves everyone and everything she meets. Little Nash lost him home after he had an accident on the floor and his horrible owner poured HOT SOUP all over his little body. He ran out the door yelping and one of our rescue warriors was in the area. We scooped him up, called the police and here we are. Thankfully, he has mended well and he is all smiles. Pluto is another save from Philadelphia ACCT. Pluto was set to lose his life because he was terrified and it came out as aggression. Everyone was afraid of Pluto. He was more than a handful to say the least. Staff was surprised that we would even consider him. They told me to feel free to get him out of his cage and they needed a control pole to interact with him. I opened his crate door and he came lunging at my face. I put the slip lead around his neck to keep him from biting me and we walked out the door. Once outside I talked softly to him. I said, "Are you ready to blow this popsicle stand?" We walked to my car. Once he realized he was free he jumped into my lap and started kissing my face. He was so happy he was spinning in circles in the car! He is so silly! Wait until you meet him! Mr Abraham Lincoln came from down south. He traveled like many others do to New Jersey to live with his new family. He did not have proper vaccines and as a result contracted Parvo. His owners, not being able to afford his care, turned him over to us. He is a Miniature Pinscher and he is as healthy as a horse and as sweet as pie.
